 Set against the gritty backdrop of New York City in 1987, "Lyrics" follows the journey of young hip-hop artists determined to rise above the harsh realities of racism, abuse, and poverty. As the crack cocaine epidemic ravages their neighborhoods and the global influence of hip-hop begins to swell, these artists channel their struggles into a powerful form of self-expression.
